The chart for TTWROR (true time-weighted rate of return) and the comparison with assets, portfolios and views are available with a Plus or Investor subscription. You can also see the TTWROR metric without a subscription on the dashboard in the “Returns” section.
The performance chart shows how your portfolio has developed in the selected period. You’ll find it on the dashboard in the “Performance” tab. You choose the period at the top right, for example “1 year” or “Since buy”.
What does the chart show?
By default, the chart shows the return. That’s your gain relative to the capital invested. How Parqet calculates the return and TTWROR is explained in Return vs. TTWROR.
Include dividends and realized gains
Above the chart is the “Include dividends and realized gains” switch.
On: The chart includes price gains, realized gains from sells and dividends.
Off: The chart only includes the price gains of your active holdings.
If you have a reference account, dividends and realized gains are always included. They’re then held as cash in the reference account. More on this: How does the reference account affect performance?
Why does the chart jump?
The return divides your gain by your invested capital. If the invested capital changes, the return changes, even without any price movement.
Example:
You buy 1 share at €100. It rises to €150. The return is +50%.
You buy a second share at €150. Your gain stays at €50, the invested capital rises to €250. The return drops to +20%.
You sell 1 share. With FIFO, the default calculation method, the first share at €100 counts as sold. Without the switch, the return drops to 0%. With the switch, the realized gain of €50 counts: €50 ÷ €150 = +33.3%.
If you want to avoid jumps caused by buys and sells, choose TTWROR.
Choose return or TTWROR
At the top right of the chart, you choose between “Performance” and “TTWROR”. TTWROR (time-weighted return) excludes deposits and withdrawals. If there were no buys or sells in the period, TTWROR and return are the same.
Compare your portfolio with indices, assets or other portfolios
On the dashboard, open the “Performance” tab.
Select “TTWROR” at the top right.
Below the chart, click a suggested index or “Compare with...”.
Select “Asset”, “Portfolio” or “View”.
Search for the asset or select the portfolio or view.
You can compare up to 5 values at the same time. Use TTWROR to compare with an index. The return changes with every buy and sell, an index doesn’t. The example for this is in Return vs. TTWROR.
Compare securities without a portfolio
On the “Markets” page, you can compare the price performance of securities, indices and cryptocurrencies. You don’t need a subscription or an account for this.
Click “Markets” in the sidebar.
In the “Performance comparison” section, click “Compare asset”.
Search for the asset and add it. A world ETF and the DAX are preset. Click the X next to a value to remove it.
Here, too, you can compare up to 5 values at the same time.
Common questions
My portfolio is far behind the index in the comparison, even though I only have ETFs.
Check whether the chart is set to “Performance”. Select “TTWROR”. The return falls after every additional buy, the index doesn’t.
The return drops to 0% after a sell.
Turn on “Include dividends and realized gains”. Then the gain from the sell counts.
I see “TTWROR is available with Parqet Plus.”
The TTWROR chart is available with a Plus or Investor subscription.
