In your portfolio's dashboard, below the chart in the “Returns” section, you'll find a table with all key metrics. They always apply to the period you select at the top right, for example “YTD”, “1 year” or “Since buy”. The line above the table shows the period, such as “since December 2, 2024”.
Value and capital
Portfolio value: today's value of all positions. Cash holdings are included.
Invested: For “Since buy”, this is the entry value of the shares you still hold, excluding fees. For other periods, the row shows how this entry value changed during the period: buys increase it, sells reduce it. If you sold more than you bought during the period, the value is negative.
Cashflow: total deposits minus withdrawals on your cash holdings. This row only appears if your portfolio has a cash holding.
Return
IRR (internal rate of return): your money-weighted return per year. Learn more: IRR (internal rate of return)
TTWROR (true time-weighted rate of return): the time-weighted return. It filters out deposits and withdrawals. Learn more: Return vs. TTWROR
Gains
Price gain: the gain or loss on the shares you still hold. For “Since buy”, compared with your entry value; for other periods, compared with the value on the day before the period starts. Learn more: Why are my price gains wrong?
Realized (gross): gains and losses from sells during the period, calculated against your original purchase price, excluding fees and taxes. Which shares count as sold depends on your portfolio's calculation method (FIFO, LIFO or average cost method). The percentage refers to the entry value of the shares sold.
Dividends (gross): all distributions during the period before taxes, including coupon payments from bonds. The percentage next to it is the dividend yield over the last 12 months. Learn more: Net dividend, dividend yield and yield on cost (in German)
Interest (gross): interest on your cash holdings before taxes. This row only appears if your portfolio has a cash holding. Learn more: Recording interest on cash holdings
Total return: the sum of Price gain, Realized, Dividends and Interest, before taxes and fees.
Costs and total net return
Taxes and Fees: all taxes and fees during the period, for example from buys, sells and dividends.
Total net return: Total return minus taxes minus fees.
Example
The portfolio in the image above has a reference account and shows the following for “Since buy”:
Price gain +€1.36, Realized −€736.40, Dividends +€180.00, Interest €0.00
Total return: €1.36 − €736.40 + €180.00 + €0.00 = −€555.04
Taxes €47.47, Fees €14.70
Total net return: −€555.04 − €47.47 − €14.70 = −€617.21
Why doesn't a number add up?
Wrong period: Price gain, Invested, Realized and Dividends only apply to the selected period. Check at the top right whether “Since buy” is selected.
Reference account: With a cash holding, the cash counts toward the portfolio value. This changes the overall return and the TTWROR; the IRR stays the same. Learn more: How does the reference account affect performance?
Transfer in at €0: Then the entire value counts as price gain. Learn more: How to add free shares to Parqet
