Parqet gives you three ways to add new activities:
Fully automatic import via Autosync, on the web or in our mobile app depending on your broker (recommended by us and the fastest)
Semi-automatic import via file import (e.g. with PDF or CSV files)
Creating activities manually
To add activities, click “Add activities” at the bottom right.
Option 1: Fully automatic import via Autosync
The most convenient way to import is Parqet Autosync. It automatically transfers all transactions from your broker to Parqet.
Option 2: Semi-automatic import via file import
With file import, you upload your broker’s statements as files. This works for most brokers and for portfolios from Portfolio Performance:
Download the files
Download the files for your activities (buy, sell, dividend) from your broker.
Drag the PDF files into your Parqet portfolio
You can drag and drop the files onto the dashboard. Alternatively, click the plus at the bottom right, then “File import (PDF/CSV)”. There, click “Select files” on the right and choose the files you want to import.
Parqet then extracts the necessary data from these files, such as which security you bought or sold, or any fees charged for the transaction. The activities are now available in Parqet and you can edit them if needed.
If Parqet doesn’t recognize a security, the activity appears under “Unknown assets”. Click the magnifying glass (“Search holding”) and select the security. Or click “Ignore”. If you can’t find the security, read My security can’t be found (in German).
If your broker isn’t supported, you can help us: Send us 1–2 anonymized PDFs via our contact form (topic “Data Import: PDF/CSV/Manual”).
Option 3: Adding activities manually
Besides automatic import, Parqet also lets you add activities manually. This is useful, for example, if you use a broker that Parqet doesn’t support yet.
Adding activities manually is very easy: In the form for adding new activities, search for the security you want to add. The search is very flexible, so you can search by name, ISIN or WKN. A green check mark shows securities that are already in your portfolio.
Once you’ve found the security, you can add the activity of your choice (e.g. buy, sell, dividend). Then fill in the date, price and quantity. The “Add time” and “Add costs” toggles show the fields for time, taxes and fees. Parqet remembers your choice. Tip: If you open the form on a holding’s page, the security is already selected. On the dividends page, the type “Dividend” is already selected.
When you’ve filled in all fields, click the “Save” button at the top right to save the activity. If you want to add several activities in a row, you can also use the “Save and create more” button. It saves the activity but keeps the fields filled in. This lets you add many activities in a row very quickly. If you accidentally add an activity twice, Parqet shows “Activity already exists”. If it isn’t a mistake, click “Save anyway”.
Which activity types are available for securities?
For securities such as stocks, ETFs, funds or bonds, the following activity types are available when you add activities manually:
Buy: You acquired shares with your own money, e.g. as a single purchase or through a savings plan.
Sell: You sold shares.
Transfer in: Shares arrive in your brokerage account without you buying them there, e.g. through a brokerage account transfer, a gift or an inheritance.
Transfer out: Shares leave your brokerage account without you selling them, e.g. through a brokerage account transfer to another broker.
Dividend: Distributions from the security. For bonds, this type is called Coupon / Interest.
Taxes & Fees: Costs or refunds that don’t belong directly to a buy or sell, e.g. a custody fee.
Difference between buy and transfer in
A buy and a transfer in both increase your holdings and count toward your portfolio’s performance. The difference lies in the capital flow: If your portfolio has a reference account (in German), a buy is deducted from it, like a payment from the account. A transfer in only increases your holdings without deducting money from the reference account. Only fees you enter are booked there.
For a transfer in, always enter an entry price (your price per share, excluding fees), e.g. the price from your broker’s transfer notice. With an entry price of €0, the entire value of the shares counts as a price gain. Your portfolio’s return and IRR will then be too high, while the TTWROR (true time-weighted rate of return) stays correct. For the position itself, Parqet doesn’t show a price gain in %.
Difference between sell and transfer out
For a sell, Parqet credits the proceeds to your reference account and shows a realized gain or loss. A transfer out only removes the shares from your holdings: The reference account stays unchanged, and there is no realized gain.
