I can’t delete a holding

Written by Niklas Klamm

I’m trying to delete a holding, but it doesn’t disappear or keeps coming back. What can I do?

This problem usually occurs when the holding didn’t get into your portfolio through a direct buy, but through an automatic event such as a merger, a spin-off or an ISIN change.

Why simply deleting it doesn’t work:

If you try to delete the new holding in such a case, our system will book it in again with the next calculation. Why? Because the original event (e.g., the ISIN change) is still recorded in the transaction history of your old holding and has to be executed.

The right way – step by step:

To remove the new holding permanently, you need to edit or delete the transaction of the previous holding that triggered the event.

  1. In your portfolio, click the holding you want to delete.

  2. In the list of transactions, look for the corresponding event (e.g., “ISIN change”) and click the “To old holding” link. If the event happened further back, click “All activities” first.

Recent activities of the new holding: a transfer in and an ISIN change, with the “To old holding” link highlighted

  3. You’ll now be taken to the detail view of the original holding. Here you can delete the corresponding transactions, in this example the buy:

Recent activities of the old holding: a transfer out, the ISIN change with the “To new holding” link, and the original buy

The result:

If you delete the original buy here (or the entire old holding via “⋯” → “Manage” → “Delete”), Parqet also reverses the event (ISIN change, merger, etc.). Then the new holding disappears as well.

You can’t delete holdings that come from Autosync. They would come back with the next sync.
