Brokerage account transfer: How to reflect a broker switch in Parqet

How to reflect a brokerage account transfer – with PDF, CSV or manual portfolios and with Autosync.

Written by Niklas Klamm

If you move your securities to another broker, Parqet doesn't carry over the brokerage account transfer automatically. How you reflect it depends on how you maintain your portfolios.

What's missing in a brokerage account transfer

In a transfer, brokers usually only send the current holdings, often without the entry price and without past buys, sells or dividends. Parqet can't read this history at the new broker.

If the entry price (your price per share, excluding fees) is missing, Parqet uses the price on the day of the transfer in. You then see a notice next to the transfer in. Enter your actual entry price there: In app.parqet.com → Activities, click the three dots next to the transfer in. Autosync doesn't overwrite your correction.

You maintain your old portfolio via PDF, CSV or manually

You can keep using the portfolio and continue it with the new broker's documents. Rename it if needed.

If you'd rather keep the new brokerage account separate, you can move securities including their history to another portfolio. To do this, open the dashboard on the web at app.parqet.com, click the three dots next to the security in the table and select “Move”. You then don't need a transfer out and transfer in.

Keep in mind:

  • Moving only works on the web, not in the mobile app.

  • Transactions on the reference account aren't moved along with it.

  • If the same security is then in two portfolios, each portfolio calculates entry prices and realized gains separately.

Your old or new portfolio uses Autosync

You can't move securities out of Autosync portfolios. Here's what to do:

  1. Keep the old portfolio so the history is preserved. Don't delete it.

  2. Track the new brokerage account in its own portfolio. An Autosync portfolio is always linked to exactly one broker.

  3. Reflect the transfer with a transfer out in the old portfolio and a transfer in in the new one. Book both on the same day and with your original entry prices.

  4. View both portfolios together in the Overview or in a View.

If you switch between two Autosync brokers (for example from Scalable Capital to Trade Republic), the two syncs handle the transfer out and transfer in themselves. You only need to adjust the transfers in at the new broker to the old broker's entry prices.

Autosync doesn't show the transfer correctly yet

Brokerage account transfers can take several weeks until both banks have completed them. During this time, securities sometimes still appear in the old brokerage account or without an entry price. Wait and sync again later.

Why does my remaining portfolio show a strange return?

A transfer out lowers your invested capital by the entry value of the transferred securities. If only a little remains in the old portfolio, this results in odd percentages there. That's why you should look at both portfolios together. If the transfer out and transfer in are on different days, the effect becomes stronger.
