How does the local Autosync work with comdirect?

With Autosync, you sync your securities transactions from January 1, 2020 onward with Parqet. We record older transactions as offset bookings. Autosync doesn’t create a permanent connection to your broker. After you enter your login credentials, we import all your transactions once and close the connection again. You can sync again at any time by entering your login credentials again.

🔒 When developing the local Autosync, we set extremely high standards for data security. After you enter your login credentials, your smartphone connects to your broker. Parqet never has access to your brokerage account or your login credentials.

How to import transactions with Autosync

You use Autosync for comdirect in our mobile app (in German). You can download the app here. It isn’t available for comdirect on the web.

Here’s how to sync your comdirect brokerage account with Autosync:

  1. Create a new portfolio. Autosync needs a new portfolio.

  2. Select the broker you want to import transactions from. In the broker selection, an icon shows which brokers support Autosync.

  3. Select “Autosync” as the import method.

  4. Enter your login credentials. For comdirect, these are your access number and PIN.

  5. Confirm your login with the push notification you receive from comdirect on your smartphone.

How holdings sync works with comdirect

To make sure your portfolio in Parqet always matches the one at your broker exactly, we use an automatic holdings sync in addition to importing your transactions. With every sync, Parqet compares the number of your shares and their entry prices (your price per share, excluding fees) with your broker’s current data and automatically balances out any differences.

Here you can learn in detail how holdings sync works and why entry prices are sometimes adjusted. Autosync: Synchronize holdings

FAQ

Autosync stops or shows an error

If your Autosync stops, go through this list:

  • Run Autosync on a stable Wi-Fi connection instead of mobile data

  • If you’re on a restricted network (e.g., a hotel or work network), try your private Wi-Fi connection

  • Keep the Parqet app open the entire time Autosync is running. If in doubt, turn off your smartphone’s automatic standby option

  • Turn off features that interfere with the connection (e.g., antivirus software, VPN, ..)

  • Log in on your broker’s website and check whether you can access it without problems from the device you’re running Autosync on

  • Check the table view at comdirect: Log in to comdirect in the browser and go to “Persönlicher Bereich” (personal area) -> “Depot” (brokerage account).
If the “Zusammensetzung” (composition) or “Steuersimulation” (tax simulation) tab is active there, please switch to the “Tabelle” (table) tab and try the sync in Parqet again.

  • Restart the device you’re running Autosync on

With many transactions, the first Autosync can take a few minutes. Keep the app open even if the percentage display seems frozen. If an error code still appears after these steps, please reach out via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”). Describe which steps you’ve already tried and which error appears.

Which data is synced?

Securities and brokerage accounts: Autosync currently syncs all brokerage accounts linked to your login credentials. This includes all securities transactions, including dividends. In the filter at the top right, you can show or hide individual sub-accounts if you don’t want to view them all together.

Cash holdings: Via the “Synchronize holdings” feature, we also sync cash holdings. Note that for comdirect, we can’t sync a transaction history for cash holdings; we always sync the balance at the time of the Autosync.

If your cash holding is empty, make sure that “Synchronize holdings” is turned on. Only then will your cash balance be displayed correctly.

Why doesn’t comdirect show any history before 2020? (offset activities)

For comdirect, we currently set the sync start date to January 1, 2020. All transactions before that are recorded as offset bookings. At comdirect, the data goes back further. You can add activities from before 2020 to the Autosync portfolio manually or via file import.

Offset bookings can only be created if the following columns are enabled in the “Depotübersicht” table (brokerage account overview) at comdirect:

  • “Stück/Nominale” (quantity/nominal)

  • “Bezeichnung” (name)

  • “Realtime/Notizen” (realtime/notes)

  • “WKN/Typ/Währung” (WKN/type/currency)

  • “Kauf/Verkauf” (buy/sell)

  • “Kaufkurs in EUR” (purchase price in EUR)

  • comdirect dialog for adding or removing columns, with the required columns checked under “Standard”

Wrong entry price for securities transferred into your comdirect account

comdirect’s documents for securities transfers usually don’t include acquisition costs. If these values aren’t available, we book the securities at the closing price on the day of the transfer. Under app.parqet.com → “Activities”, a notice appears next to the affected “Transfer in” activity. You can adjust the entry price by clicking the three dots (...). If you can’t find the entry price yourself, please contact your bank. Via the “Synchronize holdings” feature, we also make historical adjustments and, in many cases, try to back-calculate the missing entry prices.

Individual transactions don’t match my broker’s transactions

If you notice discrepancies in your Parqet portfolio, first check the underlying transactions. To do this, go to app.parqet.com → “Activities” and compare Parqet’s transactions with your broker’s transactions. You can use the PDF documents in your mailbox for the comparison.

If you spot discrepancies, feel free to reach out with as precise a description as possible via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”). This way, we can fix any errors centrally for all users.

Ideally, also turn on the option “Enable erroneous documents analysis” under the menu item “Autosync” in the settings of the mobile app. This option is turned off by default, so you can freely decide whether to share these failed documents with us. The option doesn’t fix an error right away. It allows us to analyze the documents that failed during your import. This helps us improve the import, and in the best case, later syncs will then pick up such documents correctly. You get Autosync improvements automatically with every new sync. You don’t need to set up your portfolio again for this.

To sync without corrections from the “Synchronize holdings” feature, turn it off in the “Portfolio settings”.

When does a new portfolio help?

If holdings, cash, or individual transactions are still wrong after syncing again, you can check whether your existing portfolio is the cause:

  1. Create a new, empty portfolio.

  2. Run Autosync with your broker again there.

  3. Compare the result with your previous portfolio. If everything matches in the new portfolio, you can delete the old one.

Important: Deleting a portfolio removes everything that happened in that portfolio: manually created or changed activities (e.g., adjusted entry prices for transfers in), imports, and notes on transactions. Your tags are kept because they belong to your account. Write down your manual changes beforehand so you can enter them again in the new portfolio.

If something still doesn’t match in the new portfolio, reach out via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”) with a specific example (security, date, amount).

Which TAN methods work with comdirect?

Confirm the login with a push approval in the comdirect app. Autosync doesn’t support scanning a photoTAN graphic.

Can I create manual activities in an Autosync portfolio?

Yes. However, we advise against it and recommend creating separate Parqet portfolios for each broker, because manual activities can otherwise interact with the activities of your Autosync portfolio in unwanted ways. With a Plus or Investor subscription, you can see several portfolios together in the Overview (in German).

Want to split portfolios to reflect different strategies? That’s what Views (in German) are for, also with a Plus or Investor subscription. A view filters your holdings, for example by tag or asset class.
