Parqet has no historical prices (Prices not available)

Written by Niklas Klamm

In some cases, price providers don’t supply the current and historical prices needed for certain securities. We keep working on expanding the price providers available to us, to improve prices for assets that aren’t well covered yet and to add new assets.

You can still add these securities in Parqet without prices. If prices are missing, the securities are valued based on the activities you entered. As soon as Parqet has prices available, they replace the previous price history that resulted from your activities.

Adding an asset for which no prices are available

Before you start, make sure that Parqet has the asset in its database. To do this, enter the asset’s ISIN (International Securities Identification Number) in the search field if you can’t find it by name.

Manual activity form: searching by ISIN finds a Deutsche Bank certificate on Tesla

After you click the asset, you’ll see that no current prices are available for it. You can still enter your transactions for the security.

Can’t find your security?

  1. Search for the ISIN or WKN from your broker’s trade confirmation. Make sure not to confuse the digit zero with the letter O.

  2. If you still can’t find it, we’ll add it for you. Write to us via our contact form (topic “Data (Prices, News, Logos, Sectors)”) and include the ISIN and the name of the security. An official document from the provider helps, for example the product information sheet.

How assets without prices are calculated

Example:

You bought the stock “Example Corp”, for which Parqet doesn’t receive any prices.

Buy on January 1, 2022: Example Corp; 2 shares; €100 per share = €200 total value.

The invested capital and the portfolio value both increase by €200.

We assume that €100 per share is the current value of the asset until you enter a new activity. The performance shown in your portfolio is 0%.

Holding row of the certificate after the first buy: position €200.00 (2 × €100.00), price gain €0.00

Buy on June 1, 2022: Example Corp; 1 share; €50 per share = €50 total value.

The invested capital increases by €50, but the portfolio value drops to €150. In total, you have now bought 3 shares of Example Corp and paid €250 for them (€100 + €100 + €50).

We assume that €50 per share is the current value of the asset until you enter a new activity. This means the current total value of the position must be €150 (€50 + €50 + €50). The performance shown in your portfolio is −40% (the difference between €250 and €150).

Holding row after the second buy: position €150.00 (3 × €50.00), price gain −€100.00 (−40.00%)

Sell on December 1, 2022: Example Corp; 3 shares; €75 per share = €225 total value.

The 3 shares were originally bought for a total of €250 (€100 + €100 + €50) and are now sold for €225 (€75 * 3). The realized loss is €25, and since the position was sold completely, it appears in the “Sold securities” section.

Sold securities section: the certificate with a realized loss of €25.00 (−10.00%)

As soon as Parqet receives prices for the asset you entered, we replace the asset’s current value (price gain) and the price history (chart) with the real prices.

Limitations:

  • Securities without prices currently can’t be added to a watchlist

  • You currently can’t enter valuation prices for securities the way you can for other assets. Here, the price is only updated when you add a new activity with a price (buy/sell/transfer in)
