Tax dashboard: taxes paid and withholding tax at a glance

What the tax dashboard shows, where the values come from and how Parqet estimates the withholding tax refund

Written by Niklas Klamm

The tax dashboard is available with a Plus or Investor subscription, in the web app and in the mobile app.

The tax dashboard shows how much tax you paid per year. For dividends, it shows the withholding tax per country. Parqet doesn’t calculate any taxes here. It adds up the taxes recorded in your activities.

CAUTION: The values are not a basis for your tax return. Use your bank’s documents for that.

Where do I find the tax dashboard?

  • Web app: Click “Analysis” in the sidebar and open the “Taxes” tab.

  • Mobile app: Open “Analytics” and tap “Tax Dashboard”.

“Taxes per year” table

The table shows the total taxes from your activities for each year. The columns:

  • Buy

  • Sell

  • Dividend

  • Other: activities of the type “Taxes & Fees”, for example the Vorabpauschale (in German)

  • Total

The table doesn’t include taxes on activities of the type “Interest”.

“Withholding tax” table

For a given year, the table shows per country:

  • Received dividends: the total of your dividends from this country

  • Paid taxes: all taxes recorded in these dividend activities

  • Refund: an estimate of how much withholding tax you can get back

Use “Previous year” and “Next year” to switch the year.

“Withholding tax” table with country, received dividends, paid taxes and estimated refund

Parqet determines the country from the first two letters of the ISIN. Example: An ETF with the ISIN IE00B3RBWM25 counts toward Ireland, even if it holds US stocks. Holdings without an ISIN appear under “Unknown source country”.

How does Parqet estimate the refund?

Parqet multiplies your dividends from a country by a fixed percentage for that country. Parqet doesn’t know your personal situation.

  • Your bank often offsets part of it automatically.

  • You have to claim other amounts yourself in the source country.

That’s why you should check the refund with your bank or your tax advisor.

Taxes are missing or too high

The tax dashboard only shows the taxes recorded in your activities.

  1. Open the holding and the affected activity.

  2. Check the “Taxes” field.

  3. Add missing taxes or correct the value.

With Autosync, sync your portfolio again. If your statement doesn’t show any taxes, for example with some business brokerage accounts, they are missing in Parqet as well.

What the tax dashboard can’t do

  • Parqet doesn’t calculate capital income tax (Kapitalertragsteuer), solidarity surcharge or church tax.

  • Parqet doesn’t take a tax exemption order (Freistellungsauftrag) into account.

  • Parqet doesn’t create a tax certificate.
