How does the local Autosync work?
With Autosync, you can seamlessly sync your entire transaction history with Parqet. Autosync doesn’t create a permanent connection to your broker. After you enter your login credentials, we import all your transactions once and close the connection again. You can sync again at any time by entering your login credentials again.
🔒 When developing the local Autosync, we set extremely high standards for data security. After you enter your login credentials, your smartphone connects to your broker. Parqet never has access to your brokerage account or your login credentials.
How to import transactions with Autosync
You use Autosync for ING in our mobile app (in German). You can download the app here. It isn’t available for ING on the web.
Here’s how to sync your ING brokerage account with Autosync:
Create a new portfolio (in German)
Select the broker you want to import transactions from. In the broker selection, an icon shows which brokers support Autosync.
Select “Autosync” as the import method.
Enter your login credentials.
For ING, these are your access number/username and your online banking PIN/password. They’re the same details you otherwise enter to log in on the ING website, where they’re described in more detail:
Confirm your login with the push notification you receive from ING on your smartphone. (Please note the known limitations further below: ING login via QR code and via photoTAN generator isn’t supported)
Depending on the size of your brokerage account, the sync can take a few seconds to minutes. Please keep the Parqet app in the foreground during the sync.
How holdings sync works with ING
To make sure your portfolio in Parqet always matches the one at your broker exactly, we use an automatic holdings sync in addition to importing your transactions. With every sync, Parqet compares the number of your shares and their entry prices (your price per share, excluding fees) with your broker’s current data and automatically balances out any differences.
Here you can learn in detail how holdings sync works and why entry prices are sometimes adjusted. Autosync: Synchronize holdings
Parqet x ING Investing program

FAQ
Autosync stops or shows an error
If your Autosync stops, go through this list:
Run Autosync on a stable Wi-Fi connection instead of mobile data
If you’re on a restricted network (e.g., a hotel or work network), try your private Wi-Fi connection
Keep the Parqet app open the entire time Autosync is running. If in doubt, turn off your smartphone’s automatic standby option
Turn off features that interfere with the connection (e.g., antivirus software, VPN, ..)
Log in on your broker’s website and check whether you can access it without problems from the device you’re running Autosync on
Restart the device you’re running Autosync on
With many transactions, the first Autosync can take a few minutes. Keep the app open even if the percentage display seems frozen. If an error code still appears after these steps, please reach out via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”). Describe which steps you’ve already tried and which error appears.
Error message: “Multi-factor authentication failed”
In almost all cases we know of, the cause isn’t the approval in the ING app, but a notice or confirmation window that ING shows you right after you log in. As long as this window isn’t dealt with, Autosync can’t complete the login – even if you’ve given approval in the ING app and it says “vorgemerkt” there.
Important: These prompts often only appear when you log in on ing.de in the browser, not in the ING app. So please check exactly there:
Log in at https://www.ing.de/ in the browser – with exactly the login credentials you also use in Autosync (not via QR code and not via photoTAN generator).
Right after logging in, watch for a window, a notice, or a prompt. Typical cases are:
Confirming new or changed terms and conditions
Asking whether your stored details are still up to date
Asking whether your legal guardians’ details are still up to date
Asking you to switch from the online banking PIN to username + password
Complete the prompt fully – so that it doesn’t appear again the next time you log in and you land directly on your account or brokerage account overview.
Then start Autosync again. If you switched to username + password, use the new login credentials in Autosync from now on.
Two things that are often overlooked:
A prompt you can dismiss with “later” or “not now” still blocks Autosync, because it appears again the next time you log in.
Enter your login credentials in Autosync manually, not via a password manager.
Does the login on ing.de go through completely without any extra step, but Autosync still stops with this message? Then please reach out via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”). Ideally, mention which prompts you’ve already checked on ing.de.
Which data is synced?
Securities and brokerage accounts: Autosync currently syncs all brokerage accounts linked to your login credentials. This includes all securities transactions, including dividends. In the filter at the top right, you can show or hide individual sub-accounts (in German) if you don’t want to view them all together.
Cash holdings: Via the “Synchronize holdings” feature, we also sync cash holdings. Note that for ING, we can’t sync a transaction history for cash holdings; we always sync the balance at the time of the Autosync.
If your cash holding is empty, make sure that “Synchronize holdings” is turned on. Only then will your cash balance be displayed correctly.
Why doesn’t ING show any history before March 2020? (offset activities)
Autosync mainly works with the transactions you’ve made. ING’s PDF history is limited (documents before March 2020 can’t be retrieved), so we create offset activities to display the correct state of your portfolio despite missing activities before March 2020. As the date for the offset activities, we use the date of the first portfolio activity. You can add activities from before March 2020 to the Autosync portfolio manually or via file import.
Wrong entry price for securities transferred into your ING account
ING’s documents for securities transfers usually don’t include acquisition costs. If these values aren’t available, we book the securities at the closing price on the day of the transfer. Under app.parqet.com → “Activities”, a notice appears next to the affected “Transfer in” activity. You can adjust the entry price by clicking the three dots (...). If you can’t find the entry price yourself, please contact your bank. Via the “Synchronize holdings” feature, we also make historical adjustments and, in many cases, try to back-calculate the missing entry prices.
Individual transactions don’t match my broker’s transactions
If you notice discrepancies in your Parqet portfolio, first check the underlying transactions. To do this, go to app.parqet.com → “Activities” and compare Parqet’s transactions with your broker’s transactions. You can use the PDF documents in your mailbox for the comparison.
If you spot discrepancies, feel free to reach out with as precise a description as possible via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”). This way, we can fix any errors centrally for all users.
Ideally, also turn on the option “Enable erroneous documents analysis” under the menu item “Autosync” in the settings of the mobile app. This option is turned off by default, so you can freely decide whether to share these failed documents with us. The option doesn’t fix an error right away. It allows us to analyze the documents that failed during your import. This helps us improve the import, and in the best case, later syncs will then pick up such documents correctly. You get Autosync improvements automatically with every new sync. You don’t need to set up your portfolio again for this.
To sync without corrections from the “Synchronize holdings” feature, turn it off in the “Portfolio settings”.
When does a new portfolio help?
If holdings, cash, or individual transactions are still wrong after syncing again, you can check whether your existing portfolio is the cause:
Create a new, empty portfolio.
Run Autosync with your broker again there.
Compare the result with your previous portfolio. If everything matches in the new portfolio, you can delete the old one.
Important: Deleting a portfolio removes everything that happened in that portfolio: manually created or changed activities (e.g., adjusted entry prices for transfers in), imports, and notes on transactions. Your tags are kept because they belong to your account. Write down your manual changes beforehand so you can enter them again in the new portfolio.
If something still doesn’t match in the new portfolio, reach out via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”) with a specific example (security, date, amount).
I don’t get a push notification from ING
Parqet sends the approval request to the device you last used to confirm a login on ing.de. If the push notification doesn’t arrive or ends up on the wrong phone, for example after switching phones, do this:
If your new phone isn’t set up with ING yet, install the ING app on it and link the device to your account. Ideally, remove the old device while you’re at it.
Log in on ing.de in the browser, not in the ING app.
Confirm the login with the device that should receive approvals from now on.
Log out of ing.de again and start Autosync in Parqet again.
ING login via QR code and photoTAN generator isn’t possible
Login via QR code and via photoTAN generator isn’t supported. For Autosync, you need to log in with your login credentials and confirm via the app.
Can I create manual activities in an Autosync portfolio?
Yes. However, we advise against it and recommend creating separate Parqet portfolios for each broker, because manual activities can otherwise interact with the activities of your Autosync portfolio in unwanted ways. With a Plus or Investor subscription, you can see several portfolios together in the Overview (in German).
Want to split portfolios to reflect different strategies? That’s what Views (in German) are for, also with a Plus or Investor subscription. A view filters your holdings, for example by tag or asset class.
