Why aren’t my dividends showing?

Written by Niklas Klamm

For dividends to show up in your Parqet portfolio, you need to add the dividend activity – just like a buy/sell of securities – via Autosync, file import or manually.

Why doesn’t Parqet add dividends to your portfolio automatically?

There are several reasons. We don’t know your taxes (in Germany, for example, church tax of 0%, 8% or 9%) or your tax residence, which matters for withholding tax. We also don’t know your tax allowances (in Germany, for example, single, married, NV-Bescheinigung, ...).

For some stocks, you can also choose between a cash dividend and a stock dividend. Finally, every broker uses different exchange rates for foreign currencies.

A study by the Divantis blog (in German) found that 17 German brokers converted US dollar dividends at completely different exchange rates (with correspondingly different gaps to the ECB reference rate), with gaps ranging from −0.01% to 0.61%. This raises questions about the exchange rate and the execution time. Different exchange rate margins can also be found in the brokers’ fee schedules.

In short: if we booked dividends for you, they would almost never match the amounts actually credited to you.

The dividend calendar works independently of this. It shows announced dividends and dividends estimated by Parqet, always gross.

Dividends missing despite Autosync or file import

  • Check the holding’s activities to see whether the dividend is listed there.

  • Autosync: Run the sync again. If the dividend is still missing afterwards, contact us via our contact form (topic “Data Import: Autosync”).

  • File import: Import your broker’s dividend statement. If that doesn’t work, see My PDF can’t be imported.
